Always, Always ALWAYS expect the unexpected by an guy named Random. After being home from tour for 2 weeks, the artist also known as Mega Ran is releasing an EP entitled "TRAP." The title has a two-fold meaning: It's an ode to the thumping 808 bass-heavy production style that has been made famous by southern hip-hop in the last decade, and is also an acronym for "Television and Radio Are Poison."

The 6-track EP combines radio-ready beats and hooks with hard hitting social commentary as only Ran can provide, with production by Mr.ThrowedonTheTrack, Checkin' Trapps and Gutta Boiy.

about

Mega Ran Philadelphia

People will remember Ran for his daring leap from teaching into video game remixing which led to a Capcom cosign, but Random's penchant for storytelling has impressed gamers while garnering respect from Hip-Hop's harshest critics. An incredible impromptu "freestyle" MC, Ran's unique combination of fantasy and introspective hip-hop has found its way all over the world. ... more

Track Name: Slow And Steady
You don't the half bout the life I lead
I can tell but you know they ain't quite like me,
They don't hustle they don't grind they don't write like me
Now i caught up with the cats runnin Twice my speed
How I do it?
Slow and Steady win the race my Boy
How i do it?
I don't never let em take my joy
How I do it?
Slow and Steady win the race my boy
Keep it movin till ya caint no more--
lets go

Imagine your own homies tellin u that you ain't good enough
Too hood for suburbanites
Blacks said you ain't hood enough
Maybe cause I never tucked a gun inside my bookbag
Or I never puffed out my chest
tryna look bad
Draft pick, Last pick, im the one they Looked past
Now they all come to me, asking me what's up wit me
How I quit the 9-5 and still I'm livin comfortably,
Hard to truly fathom it unless you spent a month with me
Miss a couple meals, maybe pass on the Jordan's,
--Focus on what's important, music and the touring
Flee from the snakes and then build a strong crew
Cause if they ain't on point, that reflects on you,
Figure out what u want, Set a goal and a date,
Stop makin excuses and take control of your fate
Get yourself a strategy and let go of the hatred,
See and you like it and you want it? Then take it!

Keep it movin till ya caint no more--
lets go

On the verge of me gettin kicked outta the crib,
Till i looked myself in the mirror and Decided to live
*What u put in* is all you ever gone get outta this biz
You either chase your dream or work for somebody who did.
And to the kids, who don't wanna be the broke cat who stayed true
Go on make ya money homie never let it make you
Payin for Retweets Followers and Page views
Man that ain't payin dues, that's just how u play a fool
Now they Payin dudes just to open for a bigger star,
Played too early, nobody saw you, that won't get you far
Reed Richards cuz these cats keep reaching
And my tracks heat seeking and the Trap keep beat
Fan made, man I never forgot it
Step my office I teach u bout Collectin a profit
7 years killin em and yet Somehow keep my soul intact
Quit the job a year ago and man I ain't goin back
Track Name: Black Bags
Way back before anyone called me mega,
I was Copping bargain bin cartridges playin my Sega
I used to hit up the corner bodega,
My local spot was run by the ortegas
We only knew em as mami and papi
And if they Spot me doing wrong they would threaten to pop me
I got the, same thing every day,
Cherry hug, now and laters, and a big bag of lays,
They'd always put my purchase in a black bag,
I liked that cuz nobody knew what I had
We'd spend a couple quarters on bad dudes, once at school, straight the bathroom,
Sell the candy and gum that I just bought,
Double my profits never having to export
Needed the sugar rush That bad
Fist full of cash stuffed in my black bag

V2
My best friend and I were totally compatible,
Love GIJoes, Comic books even had a flow
Used to tell me i would go international,
And i would say he was just being irrational
He could probably mop up the floor wit me
So I assured him he'd surely work security
He was Rasheed, I was Raheem,
I was pigeon toed, he was knock kneed
We hit the bodega for a hoagie,
After playing Football wit a few of the homies
Sheed said u hungry? get whatever you want G then he Pulled out a pocket full of 20's
I didn't wanna ask where he got it,
And he knew he couldn't leave that kinda money in his pocket,
We was like 11, we ain't have wallets
So he took my bag and put the money inside it
I was silent I couldn't even act mad
Walking home He stopped off at the Crack pad
Nobody else knew what that cat had
All under the disguise of the black bag

V3
Time went on me and Sheed got distant,
We were so alike, but the things got different
I never told my mom why we drifted,
But she musta sniffed it, she was just gifted
She said they fear you cuz they don't understand you,
And you destined to do things that they can't do
Not a bad thing your better in the long run,
And you gone see that I'm right before its all done,
I still hit the bodega on the reg,
Long roll, cheese, turkey bacon and some eggs
a new family bought the store changed the name
But We still call em mami and papi like its the same
Went away to college in 95,
Then I got a call that somebody died,
Got shot right in front of the spot,
Panicked after Serving an undercover cop
They say he pulled out, but no one could prove it,
Cop shot em dead because he wouldn't stop moving
They Thought he was Good for nothin
And guess what the coroner zipped em up in,

Black Bags...
Track Name: Trouble
Chorus:
Here Comes Trouble
Yeah you know we got the game sewn
trying to get my name known
Game On,
Here Comes Trouble
You know how my crew get,
Got em goin stupid
my music

(2x)

guess whos back with a brand new rap
backpackers all like u cant do that
cant do trap music and boom bap
how they gonna tell me what i cant do trap?
tracks comin hotter than some candle wax
cats wanna dub like andrew jax
mad cuz the best dont hand you tracks
take a step let me handle that
most prolific, flow terrific
when we in the club, motion pictures
im so fly
so consistent, stroke is vicious
coke and mistresses less important
knew they wasnt ready for my next recording
mega forever keep the pressure on em

lay the murder game
lotsa copies, poppin mollys
droppin bodies, cockin shotties
this is my life, not a hobby
dont cosign if you was not behind me
this for the people with love for somethin
had to put it on a lil thug production
now that yall know im up to something
let the rest know they trouble comin

Chorus 2x
v2

plan the impossible then complete it in a week
goin hard in the paint cuz they need it in the streets
so come one and all, meet the realest dude you gone come across
they dont mention me and i dont mind being the underdog
so when i win its a surprise to every one of yall
shirts comin off, brothas doin somersaults
tony stark, joan of arc
that's the way im burnin bread
present tense, exorcist
that's the way im turnin heads
bout to get the blue ribbon ---
just for my true spittin--
this is what the youth missin---
who dont feel em, you trippin!
my movement is too real for yall, no actors and no stunt double
we bust bubbles now hit milton bradley
if you aggie rappers want trouble

CHORUS 2x
i dont subtweet, i aint indirect
i dont run streets i dont disrespect
somebody wrong me, i disconnect
got too much to do to be gettin vexed
stay active, i rap sick
since back flips, on the mattress
no disrespect but im askin
where these cats get these accents
im wondering what happened
to crab scratches and backspins
the rappin is now past tense
and now its all about trappin
these has beens straight graspin
and yappin, tryna make a buck
actin, aint lastin no work so they change it up
tell em the game is up
plantin my flag and i raise it up
like mike cuz im bad plus dangerous
they know better than to get on stage with us
no blog hits, no pub or nothin
no cocaine, no guns i'm bussin
this right here, what i does, its nothin
let em all know they got trouble comin
Track Name: Turn Me Down
Yall see her On Instagram straight flexin
Midsection out for the attention
Straight Fishin for the likes and mentions
The thirst is real and yes it needs quenchin
No syrup or pills are among her vices
Just her dress ajdnthe way that she likes to hike it
Get the boys on her timeline all excited
If they like it, then rest assured she likes it
Evelyn Lozada one of her role models
Reservations on chill just like the Gold bottles
Dreamin of something foreign with Low mileage
Sharing in public what should prolly go private
Eventually they go for the bait,
Suggesting they go on a date
A married man, Regretting who they Chose for a mate
20 DMs later he goes to her place
Got a 5 step plan to rope in any man
Vicky negligee they won't have any chance
Unless she finds out they Broke and didn't spend
Might get it once but Won't hit it again
Clever with the cropping and filters
To the point where she do not look familiar
Now the girl bout Burn it down
To get revenge on the last man that turned her down

when you turn me down, you turn me out

From the space to the book to the twitter page,
He would follow her but he never did engage
Threw a couple of subliminals that didn't take
Invited her out to a simple dinner date
But he didn't understand that she didn't date,
Had a couple kids didn't wanna get in late
So he offered a babysitter just in case
No private encounters maybe a Different place
Salivating while cruisin upon the interstate
All the fantasies that imma get to imitate
Thinkin first we gone date then we get engaged
On the dance floor, sex she would simulate
told him she wasn't ready to get so inti-mate
Wanted to take it slow but he didn't wait
In the back of his mind he said this Isn't rape
All this time that I waited, how dare you
Turn me down
Track Name: Hometown Prophet (feat. Lyriqs Da Lyraciss)
Ben Franklin said absence sharpens love,
Musta been my town that cat was talkin of,
I used to tell my girl she was too far to visit,
She said if you wanted to do it, you woulda did it,
And she was brilliant,
that there sealed it,
problem was she too much to deal wit
The only place I see you is my dreams, so when they sleep on me I know just what it means,
This is a sad overview
How a dude tour the world and come back as a local dude
Hard to be humble and take the scraps they throw to u
That's why I don't speak up unless I'm spoken to,
Put the work in first and pray they notice you
Save your breath for the takes in the Vocal booth
They might not call Ran the coldest dude,
But after I hit the stage they all, know the truth

Man you know I love my town,
So it kills me when I'm not around,
But I got to keep movin
Cuz my goal is improving

Lyriqs
To be in this rap game lyriqs was chosen/
Doing the damn thing i swear im focused/
Im from new orleans my people i hope they all know it/
But now i gotta see the world like the atlantic ocean/
Or the pacific both coasts i gotta visit/
I live my city no doubt but dog im on a mission/
Gotta vision of being the hottest rapper out/
Nothing but quotables coming outta this rappers mouth/
Packed crowds evey town every venue/
For eveyone to know my name no matter what u into/
To do that i gotta dip like queso/
But no matter the place on the map i may go/
I hold my city down ill make my city proud/
Got em on my back make em smile never frown/
With all respect new orleans i gotta go/
And if u really need to find me ill be some where on the road/

CHORUS
Rep my town though I'm hardly home,
Tryna run my city like I'm smarty jones
And I play my part-- display my art--
Wayne and Garth --we gone party on
My short term goal-- tear it up,
Be a local legend-- don't care enough
And my long term goal looks hopeless-- when I approach it, I just move the Carrot up
Faced with the task of holding down 2 cities,
So different neither one knows what to do wit me,
So I'm just in the wind like the sheet of paper
In American Beauty, until I meet my maker,
I'm Kevin spacey, flirting wit a younger chick,
Who don't know my government I'm gluttonous for punishment
She put a price on my head I told em double it,
Been through it all in my city I'm
Still I'm love wit it
Track Name: TRAP (The King's Theme)
You ain't bout no murda
You ain't bout no killin,
Stand up for yourself brotha,
Go on raise your children
Got 2 cities all on my back
Got 2 50s all in my lap
Knock these snitches off of the map
Man I ain't buying all that...

You a King!
You aint a gangsta Or no hustler
You aint a pimp, man you my brother
And yo the sooner you discover..
showin love don't make u a sucka,

I was on world tours
While You was on world star
Marveling at how trifling these girls are
Spending your advance on a chain and a sports car,
Tryna get support in your city is like Dolly in a sports bra,
Used to change my D's into B's on my report card
Now I got a seat where the academy awards are
They say you like the johann of yo time
With yo grind you should be on in no time
Problem is I don't bite my tongue for no cosigns
Nigerian nightmare dragging folks to the goal line,
Christian Okoye, rippin through the foy-ye
Get it the raw way
Philly to broadway
If u don't work, then u don't eat
We put in work, yeah you know me
Times is hard, but we ain't stressin
Count ya money but count ya blessings

You ain't bout no murda
You ain't bout no killin,
Stand up for yourself brotha,
Go on raise your children
Got 2 cities all on my back
Got 2 50s all in my lap
Knock these snitches off of the map
Man I ain't buying all that...

You a King!
You aint a gangsta Or no hustler
You aint a pimp, man you my brother
And yo the sooner you discover..
showin love don't make u a sucka,

Brotha pull ya pants up,
Stand up like a man bruh,
I know times is hard sometimes
We struggle for an answer,
But this stuff is cancer, eatin at yo soul,
Now we fighting over materials
We ain't even got control,
Television is poison,
Radio is straight poison
Reality TV show ain't the only place of employment
While You think u enjoying
All they doin is destroyin
They ain't gotta kill us off fam,
we do the job for them,
All of my favorite rappers are hypocrites
So i guess it's expected that they should flip a
Put it on a beat you might recognize
Pushin buttons cuz most of y'all is mechanized,
They might cut u a check but they don't respect you guys>
Status Quo irrelevant, true artistry never dies
Bout to mash out, finally see a Lil fame
I hear no so much Im starting to think it's my middle name
will i blow, like winds in chicago,
I try to estimate but truthfully on god knows
Started catching fire, kept My rhymes cold,
Tryna feed an army with 2 fish and 5 loaves
Hands tied behind my back wearing 2 blindfolds
Tryna fly a kite with 2 bullet sized holes,
I'm after a legacy, not murcialoago
You would still wouldn't doubt me
If u knew what I know

You ain't bout no murda
You ain't bout no killin,
Stand up for yourself brotha,
Go on raise your children
Got 2 cities all on my back
Got 2 50s all in my lap
Knock these snitches off of the map
Man I ain't buying all that...

You a King!
You aint a gangsta Or no hustler
You aint a pimp, man you my brother
And yo the sooner you discover..
showin love don't make u a sucka,
