So many great games this year I barely could count em
I ain’t being hyperbolic but it seemed something was dropping every week
Could barely keep up let alone rap about em
Well I know this what you waiting for
So Imma get right to it before I’m played off like winners at the Game Awards
So anyway without a further delay
It’s the year in gaming 2023, so okay
We saw layoffs and payoffs
Openings and closings
Brilliant new franchises
Reunions with old friends
Microsoft finally acquired blizzard
And studios made cuts like some scissors

Stadia is a wrap,
e3 is a wrap
I knew it once Sony + Nintendo weren’t back
That the curtains drawn like when my kid takes a nap
Summer game fest appears to fill in the gap
But it ain’t the same, industry is changing to make it plain
Devs getting dropped right after they make a game
They saying this might be too difficult to sustain
A crash might be imminent, but… yo… the games!!!
Tears of the Kingdom dropped in May
And it was wise for every other title to get out the way
Next we got a remaster of Metroid prime Metroid Prime Remastered - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch
Which was perfect cause I didn’t get to play it at the time
Hi-Fi Rush, brought back the vibes
Street Fighter 6 & Mortal Kombat Sparked a fighting renaissance
But Everything that dropped wasn’t exceptional
Forspoken caught some flack, dialogue questionable
Overwatch 2’s paywalls had fans skeptical
While MK1 on switch was completely unacceptable
Dig it-
And Modern Warfare 3 got shamed for
Reusing assets and a short campaign
Anyone that say it’s fire, they a liar
My favorite game this year probably Dave the Diver
Turns out it wasn’t indie like we thought
But I don’t care, call it what you want I call it bought
Spider Man 2 got shut out at the game awards
It was exceptional but nothing we ain’t played before
So I get it, though the criteria’s unclear
You gotta be special to stand out in a tough year
Jedi survivor was terrific,
Made my PC choke, the force wasn’t with it
I love Alan Wake, while Diablo got all the hate
And I’m really digging Baldurs Gate
Starfield was worth the wait, proof conclusive
only flaw is that was Xbox exclusive
Mario Wonder was just that
Bittersweet tho
Charles Martinet decided to step back
Armored Core, raw yo, Mech’s back
Octopath 2, Sea of Stars, Steam Deck packed
Resident Evil 4, even better than before
You lying like P if you think you disagree
Epic Games finally set bandcamp free
Bungie made cuts decline of a destiny
Speaking of, farewell to commander Zavala

On Personal note I spent time with the family

But so much love, a heck of a fresh start
Even hit number 2 on the billboard charts
My kid he’s so smart, he’s talking and counting
And truthfully I don’t know what I do without him
A new motivation so I keep climbing the mountain
Another reason you should never doubt em
Believe it I’m always Wanting more
